Doug Walker - The Mystery
Album Review

Doug Walker – The Mystery

There’s a lot going on in this song. Opening with football-terrace style chanting and handclapping, it quickly swerves into a synth and piano-backed ballad, building, building – and then the chorus. Up until now it was fairly transatlantic melodic pop, but now, it’s a catchy and gutsy full-lunged punch in the air that’s at odd with the slick verses. It’s a mystery?

Awful puns aside, this is a lovely song which it would be good to put into context. A quick trip to the Internet reveals that Doug (from Manchester) handed his single to Chris Moyles outside his studio and it was promptly played on the show. There are raft of comments on it, and there’s even been a new video made, slicker than the previous street busker playing a cardboard piano one.

Comments include one from the violently-monikered EvaMASSACRE who writes:

“Wow, I love this song <3
It’s amazing.
Me and my friends sing it all the time…
“na na na na na na na” 😀
Lovin’ the video, pleasepleaseplease don’t stop making music!”

And Philhollihan who says

“Wow. A slick video to go with an awesome song. Na na na na na na na. I can’t wait till March the 10th to finally buy this song and get it on my ipod!!”

What else can I say but IMHO it is <3 but perhaps a bit :- in parts and needs some more >x> and less 😀 and definitely less !!!!1!one!one! on the part of the internet critics?
