Above Them - Put Your Heart Into This
Album Review

Above Them – Put Your Heart Into This

The “Put Your Heart Into This” EP is a startlingly good release from Yorkshire band Above Them.

Each of the five tracks has been well produced, which is always an added bonus, but the most noticeable aspect of every song is the obvious effort that’s been put into making everything perfect. Instruments come in with perfect timing, there is never a vocal out of place and the band are confidently crossing genres without any objection from the listener. It doesn’t feel weird or forced when the songs move from hard and fast to slower and more melodic in the slightest.
Heavy guitars teamed with strong yet beautiful vocals and powerful lyrics turn “Motion. Inhale. Breathe” into my particular favourite.

All these tracks are songs you can see yourself dancing to, but at the same time can also be listened to while walking along the street plugged into your iPod. I adore the way the band seems to shift completely effortlessly from hard to soft, making each and every one of the tracks special in a particular way.

I genuinely expect to see big things of Above Them in 2008. This band seem, on the surface, to have it all.
