This is an interesting offering, and not in the good way. Whilst the press bio enthuses about witty and ironic lyrics, it is not clear how serious the artist is – is it supposed to just be funny or serious but witty?
There are moments of beauty in the musical background of the songs but the voice sounds like someone doing a parody of country music and when it is not clear how serious or funny the artist is meant to be this can be a bit of a distraction. It is hard to pick out any particular tracks as stand-outs as there is much temptation to skip through the album, although ‘Haiku Blues’ is a fun upbeat country number.
All in all this album may only be enjoyed with those who like their music witty and ironic as to all else it may be one of those artists you just do not ‘get’.
