This is pop punk, this is rock, this is exhilarating, this is Crisis In Hollywood. Finding a gap in the market between powerpop and screamo, Crisis In Hollywood mix the harder background music of punk rock and screamo with the melody and harmony of powerpop to create something to appeal to various tastes and moods.
Opening track ‘The Fashion Of The Christ’ comments about the current scene in a punk/rock tone whilst uber-catchy ‘Sin On My Lips’ goes more down the powerpop/pop rock route and is an obvious hit-to-be. Even when things slow down a bit in ‘Behind The Quiet’ the rock is still there and penultimate track ‘Let It Go’ is another catchy number that’ll get stuck in people’s heads whether they are fans or not. Between The Devil & The Deep Blue Sea is powerpop without the cheese, it is screamo without the screams, emo-appeal without the whine to put others off, it is an album that is well worth checking out.
Crisis In Hollywood may have only played their first gig a year and a half ago but they have a strong fanbase over 20 states across the U.S. and once word gets out here too, then you better watch this space because Crisis In Hollywood are coming.
