Orphanboy - Satellites
Album Review

Orphanboy – Satellites

The buzz around Orpahnboy is fastly gathering pace with major radio stations such as Radio 1 and Xfm no less clambering all over each other to air them. Hailing out of Grimbsy and Manchester the trio realease Satellites / Smalltown Hearts. This is a band very much with something to say and you would be well advised to listen before the rest of the country takes them to their hearts.

“Satellites” is a monster of a indie/pop song sounding like an early Weller it is influenced by a sense of false people who “follow everyone else in the crowd” – Steve Lamacq recently said it was the most played song on his iPod which is no mean feat. “Smalltown Hearts” is based around being from a smalltown (i.e Grimbsy) where everyone knows everyones business. Again, clever lyrics are furiously delivered over a pacey and addictive beat.

Orphanboy have supported such chart botherers as The Longcut, The Twang, The Wombats and The Whip. But if their eagerly awaited debut album lives up to the quality of this release then support slots could, and should, be a thing of the past.
