Roísín Murphy is best known as electro pop band Moloko’s frontwoman. Last October she released her second solo album ‘Overpowered’ to high acclaim. The album was a top 20 success and at the start of this month she played a sold out show at London Roundhouse.
‘You Know Me Better’ is the second single to be released from the album and is a perfect piece of 80s style electro pop complete with heavy breathing. This is a track that harks back to Madonna and Kylie 80s, rivaling songs like Ray of Light.
Personally I think it’s a bit too heavy on the blue eyeliner and big hair but it is a slick, well constructed piece of electro-pop that is more mainstream than her work with Moloko.
On a side note, the video for this song is worth checking out-Murphy carries on the retro styling with a very random 1950s themed video.
