Dorp – Rollercoaster

Edgy soft rock with Brian Molko interludes will continue to spark flames of interest around cosmopolitan and opinionated four piece, Dorp. ‘Rollercoaster’ sees them take on a more bemused and personal stance, as opposed to their political insurrection inciting music videos and projections that often gives their live sets an edge.

The elastic vocals of Pieter Bezuidenhout wrap around the churning slightly jagged guitar hooks, an element that is given added prominence due to the lack of a bass player in the line up. Before a disco kick slides in and a rhythm ride takes the sting out of the story of despair.

‘Extreme’ cuts a rawer, more uncompromising edge and bears out their political pounce that is growing in infamy nicely in the build up to this summer’s debut album release. In this sing about a Saturday night trend, Dorp could represent an alternative for those wanting a bit more.
