American indie is certanley starting to sound like UK Indie. The Metapuffs have no doubt been listening to a few of Britain’s punk acts from the late 70’s and early 80s. Boasting two leads, one male and one female. The band try to cover a few different areas in their music. It has to be said the lady fronted songs (Candy Lane) have much more grace to them than the anarchic male led tracks (Tris Lucas). That and the fact that the female member of the band is just a much better singer. ‘Step Beyond the Dream’ is just a glowing little tune.
Such a shame that most of the songs here are taken over by mr lucas. But then it does sound like they are a very different band when Candy takes over. Perhaps they should split the work and call themselves by two different band names. That way one wont hinder the others progression.
