5 times winner of the Blues In Britain Best UK Female Vocalist award, 3 times winner of the French Blues European Singer of the Year award and Digital Blues Personality of the Year, Liverpool born Connie Lush is one of the worlds most renowned blues singers.
Recently, Connie and her band ‘Blues Shouter’ travelled to Cannes for Liverpool Business Week where they were they performed to a plethora of worldwide business executives. The performance led to a deluge of requests including a request from a Prince of Dubai to perform at his birthday party for a sum of money that would keep the band going for over a year and a request for Connie and her band to travel to an exclusive party in Barbados for a prestigious North West Events Organiser. Connie unfortunately had to turn down both offers due to tour commitments in Germany – a further salute to Connie’s world-class talent.
Lush’s inimitable and explosive voice has wowed audiences worldwide and gained her instant respect on the Blues Circuit, particularly in the blues capital of the world – Memphis, Tennessee. There she recorded with some of the states greatest blues artists – The Memphis Horns and Al Green’s very own backing group The Hodges Brothers. Along with performing at his Memphis Beale Street Club, Connie joined legendary blues artist BB King on his UK tour during which he referred to Connie as ‘The woman who makes my heart sing’.
Very few artists can celebrate such a lustrous career that Connie has maintained over the past 20 years, which has seen her travel the globe with requests for her and her band ‘Blues Shouter’ to perform. Her astounding talent has been witnessed in Venice, New York, Germany, Austria, Sweden, Belgium, Norway, London, France and Hollywood. The worldwide respect she receives is on par with some of the greats such as BB King and Ray Charles.
In spite of her success, Connie is still extremely grounded. The unsung musical heroine performed at Liverpool’s Capital of Culture opening ceremony alongside the likes of Beatles legend Ringo Star, Connie’s show stopping performance made her ‘The Star of the Show’ (Liverpool Echo). A week later Connie performed at The Number One Project in a stunning collaboration with Frankie Goes To Hollywood’s Nasher. The pair recorded their version of ‘The Power of Love’ and performed to a sell out crowd at The Liverpool Echo Arena which received rapturous applause and rave reviews. The song also appears on Liverpool – The Number Ones Album alongside Atomic Kitten, Elvis Costello and The Farm, among other legendary Liverpool artists.
Connie is without a doubt one of the UK’s greatest Blues diva’s and alongside her band Blues Shouters, which comprises of her husband Terry Harris on Bass, Rick Farrow on drums and Pete Wade on guitar, they continue to produce some of the best, soulful music this side of the 1920’s. Together, they are currently working on a new CD and new material in between touring Europe’s various blues festivals and venues and still love every minute of it. Connie commented ‘I love doing my job! Some of the gigs and festivals we have done have been absolutely amazing experiences that will stay with us forever. I feel really lucky to still be getting such a great response from audiences – I will be doing this job for as long as I live!’
