Club Glasswerk, Glasswerk's premier monthly indie clubnight returns to the purple turtle with perhaps its' best line-up ever. With a quarter of the capacity sold out 2 months in advance, expect a packed night.
Newly added to the bill are the wonderful Glam Chops; The lovechild of Art Brut's Eddie Argos and David Devant describe themselves as 'an orthodox glam rock outfit'. Live they appear with Bath’s sensational dance troupe The Panthergirls, dancing and joining in on the parts where everyone shouts out “Hey!”. Glam Chops treat the tradition of Glam Rock with both respect and disdain, ripping up the glam rock rulebook and rewriting it for the day-glo, txtspk, barmy crowd generation; their stage attire is glittery suits, platform shoes, make up and they even do all the necessary synchronized stage stomping.
They might be sitting in the middle of the billing, but the most anticipated band is surely The Lancashire Hotpots, playing their debut London gig. Selling out towns left, right, centre and north-west, The Hotpots are an eclectic bunch, singing about emo's, chippy tea, e-bay and shopmobility scooters. With singles featuring on three Radio 1 shows, >500,000 myspace plays and a Granada TV feature, it's not hard to see why this peak-cap wearing bunch of northerners are causing such a southern stir.
With Londoners Red Eye Banquet returning to Club Glasswerk, Leeds band The Blueskins heading down the M1, plus a set from Oystar this looks like an unmissable night.
