After the surprise success of his debut album ‘Veneer’ Jose Gonzalez must have asked him self “Where do I go now?” and maybe it’s not surprising that judging by this single it’s more of the same second time round.
On this new single he serves up an acoustic laden song that has more in common with Devendra Banhart’s take on psychedelic folk than his famed cover of The Knifes ‘Heartbeats’. Trickling along at a comfortable speed with a heap load of sprightly melodies echoing along whimsically in the background and all underpinned by an indistinctive simple metronomic rhythm.
It’s the kind of song that wouldn’t sound out of place being played round a camp fire at 2am in the morning, this song won’t win him many new fans but has another verve to not disappoint his already considerable following.
