Forward Russia - Breaking
Album Review

Forward Russia – Breaking, Standing

Taken from the new album Life Processes, this is the first single from Leeds four-piece Forward,Russia! since an impressive 2006 left us wanting more.

They’ve returned all grown up sounding too, there’s vocal maturity and they’re less insistent with the heavier guitar work on this track. I’m not sure that’s a good move for a comeback single but rest assured there are better lead tracks on the album. Still, they’ve gone through some changes since we last had a rendezvous; by way of signing to indie label Cooking Vinyl.

The guts to go mellow will win some new fans but for me Breaking, Standing doesn’t deliver what I hoped for. Even if it’s not you’re cuppa, which is understandable if you loved the proggy old stuff, you’ve got to hand it to Forward, Russia! their hard work ethic has paid off and this is one DIY band that got a break at last.
