First released last year, the Deluxe Edition of “Between The Minds” is a re-release of Jack Savoretti’s acclaimed debut album. This edition includes a second disc of acoustic versions from the original release and 4 new songs including his single “One Man Band”. For those not familiar Jack Savoretti is a half-English half-Italian singer songwriter who has been writing lyrics since a child, and toured the UK last year supporting Corinne Bailey Rae.
Jack Savoretti has been steadily building his fanbase since the release of the first version of his album last year winning people over with his husky, soulful yet vulnerable vocals which are reputed to be even more heartbreaking live, a taste of which is available on his album with his gravely cover of Cash’s “Ring Of Fire”. His guitar playing is excellent, giving just the right amount of backing to the lyrics. This album is music for the soul, soothing and easing the stresses of your day like a musical massage.
The only thing that could stop Mr Savoretti from really making it are his lyrics, they are meaningful, but they are meaningful to a man in his early twenties and so lack the depth of many of his counterparts (by this we mean Damien Rice, Ben Harper, perhaps even Dylan himself). Fast forward 20 years and there is a good chance that his songs could touch you in ways you can’t imagine.
