X-Press 2 - Witchi Tai To
Album Review

X-Press 2 – Witchi Tai To

‘Witchi Tai To’ was originally written in the 50’s by a native american Kaw Indian, Jim Pepper. Based on a traditional chant that his grandfather taught him, Jim Pepper unknowingly created something of a hidden American classic, which has been covered by a range of artists including: 60’s US rock/pop outfit Harpers Bizarre, surfing singer-songwriter Jack Johnson and alt-indie’s Ambulance.

Taken from their 2006 album ‘Makeshift Feelgood’, the UK-based electro and dance trio, X-Press 2 released ‘Witchi Tai To’ in very limited quantities late 2005. Having teamed up with Tim De Laughter, the leading vocals of the Polyphonic Spree, X-Press 2 have created a joyously surreal Balearic-led version of this extraordinary song.

Dynamically mixing dance, electro-pop and alt-indie, we have found ourselves a sparkling and energising cover for us to truly groove along to! Giving credit to some otherworldly remixes from the likes of Spencer Parker and M Factor, X-Press 2’s ‘Witchi Tai To’ now plans to be re-released later this year to coincide with a clutch of big UK festivals dates! You don’t wanna miss it this time around!
