After weeks of rumor, it has been confirmed that Weezer's new album will be released on June 24.
The LP, Weezer's third self-titled release, will arrive via DGC/Interscope in two formats according to the group's website, a regular version with 10 tracks and a deluxe edition with 14.
The album will reportedly feature songwriting and vocal duties from all four of the group's members, and was produced in part by the group and in part by Rick Rubin—who worked with the group on 2005's Make Believe—and also in part by Snow Patrol/Bloc Party knob-turner Jacknife Lee.
Though much of the record's creation has been shrouded in secrecy, bits and pieces have started trickling out over the months. The tracks “Everybody Get Dangerous” and “Automatic” were recently featured in the movie 21 and the video game Gran Turismo 5 Prologue, respectively, and the bonus track “Pig” was a widely spread demo recording from lead Weez Rivers Cuomo last year. The album's first single, the Lee-produced “Pork And Beans,” is streaming from the group' website and will be available from iTunes this Thursday. A video is reportedly in the works. No word yet on whether Spike Jonze will be involved with the clip's creation, but here's hoping.
