The Black Ghosts – I Want Nothing

Composed of Simian’s Simon Lord and The Wiseguys’ Theo Keating, The Black Ghosts send a torrent of greasy electro-ness through your Hifi.

As pleasing as this should be, however, in my book it fails to deliver. Whilst the harmony vocals are very pretty and provide a stark and effective contrast to the balls-out bass synths and drum beat that the tune distributes, eventually satisfying repetition gives way to tedium and again we are faced with an electro tune that makes a big mistake: not enough variety.

It seems that the Black Ghosts should take a leaf out of Justice’s book and add subtle but effective changes here and there to maintain the listeners attention, instead of just adding layers at obvious moments.
