Los Campesinos – My Year In Lists

Los Campesinos! are quirky and perky popsters with a knack for eccentric lyrics and attention grabbing openings to their songs. “My Year In Lists” is no exception, welcoming you with the line “You said send me stationary, to make me horny” and then bombarding you with a flood of humorous lyrics for the whole two minutes of it’s all too short running time.

Every second is bursting with energy as they tell their story of long distance love which is beginning to get a little too much. With seven members in their band they have a nice balance between music and vocals, but their music still has a novelty sound about it which was fine a year ago when they first started to make themselves heard but now they are starting to marginalise their market. It’s probably just as well they keep their songs so short as that helps keep their sound and appeal relatively fresh.
