Bestival 2008 is a sell out! With an incredible line-up that includes indie giants My Bloody Valentine, queen of soulful pop, Amy Winehouse and techno titans Underworld in the headline slots, 30,000 tickets have sold out with almost 4 months to spare!
Bestival curator Rob da Bank commented: ‘I thought last summer was a busy one for festivals and was sure the scene was saturated but I’ve been proven wrong by the amount of great new festies springing up – and I say bring ‘em on..i want to go to at least one every week over the summer. Oh yeah and we sold out 30.000 tickets in record time which is ace ‘cos now I can go outside and enjoy the sunshine!’
And we have some real treats in store for all the lucky ticket holders! As well as our infamous intimate and inspiring vibe we have one of the most vibrant music line-ups around, an eclectic cornucopia of sound with BBC Introducing’s tent choc-full of cutting edge talent from the likes of The Duke Spirit, Teenagers and Tawiah, some of the world’s greatest DJs like Laurent Garnier, and Carl Craig, amazing AV sets from Coldcut and DJ Yoda and a healthy dose of pop-culture legends like The Sugarhill Gang, The Human League, Gary Newman and even Chas & Dave. There will also be Bestival’s unique fun & games, some very special 5th birthday high-jinks and, of course our world renowned fancy dress (theme to be announced imminently!) all of which adds up to what is destined to be our most legendary event yet.
For anyone unlucky enough not to get a ticket there is still plenty of Bestival cheer to be had this summer with our inaugural Camp Bestival at Lulworth Castle in July. Encapsulating the very spirit of Bestival, with our trade mark escapist atmosphere and eye-catching thrills and frills, Rob da Bank has outdone himself with a typically stunning musical line-up that includes the likes of rock ‘n’ roll daddy Chuck Berry, the psychedelic costume craziness of Flaming Lips and BRIT award winning Kate Nash as well as the arcade poetry of Dan le Sac vs Scroobius Pip, the indie cool of Joe Lean and The Jing Jang Jong and the none more hip Black Kids. Plus there will be Camp Fire Sessions, Strummerville, The Insect Circus Stage & Museum, The Worlds Largest Marching Band, Physics In The Field and the unmissable Dorset Cream Tea Appreciation Society!
