As Bestival’s Reunion Tour hurtles into the capital to make its final stop for this year, at Koko on Saturday 24th May, Rob da Bank has pulled some last minute line-up additions out of his hat adding an extra sprinkle of pizzazz to an already stellar line-up.
Joining the ranks for our final blow-out at Koko before the inaugural Camp Bestival launches at Lulworth Castle in July, are BBC 6 Music’s femme fatales Queens of Noize, AKA Mairead and Tabitha who were the DJs at the forefront of the recent rock renaissance that spread like wildfire across the land. With a list of fans that includes Har Mar Superstar, Courtney Love and Peaches you can be sure Queens of Noize know how to rock a party.
Also adding his not inconsiderable knowledge of silky grooves to proceedings will be Eddie Piller. Founding father of the Acid Jazz movement in the late 80s and champion of bands such as The James Taylor Quartet, Corduroy and Jamiroquai, Eddie is no stranger to the F.U.N.K. His sets were the corner stone of the legendary Blue Note Club that was a breeding ground for the evolution of both the Soul and Dance music in that ruled 90s. Acknowledged as one of the finest classic soul, jazz, funk, samba, afrobeat and old school hip hop DJs around Eddie Piller is a must-see for the discerning music lover.
Plus we have bona fide legends, The Sugarhill Gang, the shimmering electro soundscapes of Ulrich Schnauss, the hotly tipped Florence and the Machine, pop recyclers Django Spears, Swedish upstarts Das Pop plus Bestival kings The Cuban Brothers & Sombrero Sound System and of course, the intrepid Rob da Bank will all be on parade for a pre-festival special of epic proportions. With the multitude of amazing attractions planned for the evening that will include a Knitting Tipi, Lost and Found giant scrabble, Spoken Word shenanigans, a dressing up theme of Pop Stars plus all our usual fun and games, Bestival’s magical spirit will be present in full-force for a guaranteed Bank Holiday blinder.
With tickets for Bestival sold out in record time and tickets for Camp Bestival literally flying out of the door, you’ll have to be quick off the mark to ensure you have a spectacular summer indulging yourself in our carnival of colour, fancy dress and tea & cake
