YOUR SOUND AMPLIFIED WITH BOOST FROM SCOTTISH ARTS COUNCIL

King Tuts Wah Wah Hut’s unsigned initiative, Your Sound, has been awarded funding from the Scottish Arts Council's Youth Music Initiative following its substantial efforts to support Scotland’s top emerging musical talent.

The funding reflects the Youth Music Initiative’s commitment to supporting independent music making among young people and will be used to enhance current Your Sound activity.

The twenty lucky acts who have been chosen to play at this years Hydro Connect will be announced by Radio 1 DJ Vic Galloway on Sunday 1st June at King Tut’s.
Elsewhere there are plans for a Scotland wide Your Sound Tour (aptly titled: 'Your Sound, Your Place') which will see the initiative visiting various locations across Scotland.

Also in the pipeline is the release of an album featuring Your Sound artists as well as the launch of a Your Sound Academy which will run in conjunction with Term Four of Your Sound from October 2008 – May 2009. The Academy will run themed seminars, focusing on education and increasing the knowledge base of young people interested in proceeding with their musical ambitions.

Fiona Rosie of DF Concerts said, “We’re delighted to have been awarded this grant to help develop Your Sound and it’s great to be given the chance to reach yet more of Scotland’s amazing emerging talent and widen the Your Sound offer. There is currently a wealth of independent talent in Scotland and it’s an incredibly exciting time to be involved in the country’s music industry”.
