Hot Club De Paris – Hey! Housebrick

The second single from Hot Club de Paris’ new album Live at Dead Lake shows John Kennedy’s faves in cheerful form. Instead of the impressive but sometimes over-fussy time signatures, Hey! Housebrick is the band at its poppiest. And yes, the subject matter is the humble building block and its more destructive uses.

Nimble guitar fingers and English eccentricity combine to sound like an even younger Young Knives, though dropped consonants and girly backing vocals add a touch of tweeness that brings it closer to Los Campesinos! or even The Research. Backed with We Drove It Like We Stole It, mindless vandalism has never sounded so jolly.
