Stephen Malkmus & The Jicks – Gardenia
Well Gardenia is a fairly simplistic tune not ever seeming to want to compete but merely exist as it is. The world needs more songwriters out there who are more interested in crafting a tune than a career steeped in commercial belief.
Stephen Malkmus & The Jicks are just the people for the job then. ‘Gardenia’ is perhaps a bit dated, but with the likes of Belle and Sebastian still doing good business, this kind of easy listening won’t have to worry about much at the moment.
