The Levellers – Burn America Burn

You can always rely on The Levellers to produce well-observed political commentary in punk-folk form, and the far-from-subtly titled Burn America Burn is no exception.

The chorus of ‘burn America, burn yourself away’ presents the track as a revelation (or maybe a celebration) of the USA’s self-destruction, as the Brighton-based punk stalwarts use the Virginia Tech shootings as a starting point for –and microcosm of – a superpower destroying itself from the inside.

As listenable, and as relevant, as ever.
