Padma – Here

Silly name, crap title, bad artwork and pretentious song titles; Padma’s debut album Here doesn’t really have much going for it. That is until you press play and listen in wonder to one of the freshest, warmest and most compelling artists I’ve come across in the last few decades.

Sparse, mournful vocals, minimal production and touching lyrics that never wander into nor wallow in the triteness and saccharine swamps often associated with singer-songwriters of Padma’s ilk. There’s a tenderness and intimacy in his delivery not heard since the autumn days of Nick Drake.

A fabulous album and a true triumph.
