Jaymay - ill Willed Person
Album Review

Jaymay – ill Willed Person

The rising star and darling of the New York anti-folk scene’s latest offering ‘ill willed person’ is the kind of stuff her UK cotemporaries, such as ‘Duffy’ and ‘Adele’ can only dream about, not only does it steer well clear of the over produced and over zealous Brit school fame hungry sound, but her lush voice and harmonies stand out in a world of their own due to her authentic and painstakingly blissful originality.

It’s a delicate heartbreaker of a song in which she addresses an ex-lover saying ‘she does not wish bad things’, but yet ‘accepts we will never get along’. It’s the kind of honest acceptance and open delivery that means it’s extremely difficult not to be blown away by and warm to the sheer quality of ‘Jaymay.’
