Cage The Elephant - Ain't No Rest For The Wicked
Album Review

Cage The Elephant – Ain’t No Rest For The Wicked

Beck’s ‘Odelay’ album is in no uncertain a masterclass in creativity and has had a huge influence on a huge amount of bands over the last decade or so. This certainly applies to ‘Cage the Elephant’ with new single ‘aint no rest for the wicked’. Locked in a radioactive cell and brainstorming Mr B’s ‘Jackass’ and ‘Loser’ and using that loloping lazy ‘loser’ loop it’s the mainstay and the focal point behind this track.

Sounding not too dissimilar to antipodean rockers Jet but without the bluster it’s a very simply constructive number but doesn’t seem to really go anywhere. Yep, it’s pleasant enough but you find yourself crying out for something a little bit more to drag you in.
