With such a dreadful band name I really didn’t expect to hear anything I would like let alone something quite so out of this world, but unpredictably The Freemasons aren’t as lacklustre as their name. Whatever, you would certainly think that they would need an extra push because people are fickle, and I admit that even I wondered what the hell I’d been given this time to review! But I was wrong, in fact judging by the amount of hits to their myspace page, they’ve impressed everyone that breaths their air.
Diving straight into an extreme pop rock assault with some mild but obvious punk influences, streaming anywhere between Fall Out Boy and The Lost Prophets, and just like both bands are completely capable of capturing attention with crunchy vocals and deliberately raunchy pop hooks. What’s also blatantly obvious is that these guys are able to give heaps more and could quite easily slam dunk your head with a more aggressive approach if they really wanted to, maybe even taking it as far as some serious screamo style rock, that’s like I said, IF they wanted to. Experimenting with mature yet catchy lyrics and precise drumming, a sing-along chorus and memorable riffs, the possibilities for a band like this are endless.
