Primal Scream – Can’t Go Back

In “Can’t Go Back” Primal Scream have decided to sound like, well, Primal Scream. After the experimental sounds of their more recent releases, in their latest single they return to safer ground and a style that reminds you of them when they were simply good.

While the lyrics are nothing special unless you like drug references they would make for an amazing atmosphere live thanks to a simple repetitive chorus. Yes Primal Scream are bordering on pop, albeit it mashed up with synth punk mix of guitars and keyboard.

“Can’t Go Back” is a good return to form for Primal Scream even if it’s unlikely to be feature as one of their best tracks. It certainly bodes well for their forthcoming album “Beautiful Future”.
