Such a classy singer, but such themes to sing about. The last time this reviewer had to write about this artist the song was entitled ‘Bloody Mother Fucking Asshole.’ (It was a very good song too!)
Once can’t help but think that our Martha gets herself mixed up with the wrong kinda guys in her life in order to inspire her art. The afore mentioned single with all the curse words in it was a very country sounding song – but this one sees her taking a very direct pop sensibility. It’s almost like like listening to a very different singer. You also get the feel that there is a much more minimalistic song waiting there, or that some over enthusiastic producer layered ontop of. A pity as this song is made more forgetable with all the breezy beats and comercialism. Lets hope she has a stripped down version waiting as a B-Side or something as it would do her voice much grander justice.
