‘Just So You Know’ is a rare commodity, a single by an indie band that is eminently listenable without giving you the impression that the band are (a) trying to hard to impress, or (b) an arrogant bunch who care more about the image than the music. For this Tripwires must be applauded.
The track begins with an understated intro which develops into a synth-laden festival favourite so subtly that you almost don’t notice. One moment it’s an Upper Room-style nouveau-Britpop effort and the next it sounds like The Automatic, only with more invention, and you can’t pinpoint the moment at which it changed. Throw in elements of The Cooper Temple Clause now and again, and you have a deeply elusive yet somehow captivating single.
