The Cedar Falls – Abandon

Abandon is the second EP from The Cedar Falls, a trio trading in melodic rock that would be best recreated if The Deftones and Incubus got together.

This band offer a competent and assured sound, with razor sharp riffs presiding over adrenaline pumping drumming. The vocals are actually sung rather than screamed – its a pleasant surprise to learn that the lyrics are as intricate and thoughtful as the tunes that compliment them.

There’s even some sweet acoustic action on A Place To Stand, and you could really see these guys holding their own at Leeds or Download as a main stage act. Major label interest surely beckons soon.
