Maroon 5 & Rihanna – If I Never See Your Face Again

I had mixed feelings before I listened to this, Rihanna is an rnb star, Maroon 5 are a bit funky! The track has a basic melody that Rihanna sings alongside the lead singer of Maroon 5. He provides a lot of the adlib vocals.
This track feels like a forced duet, either one should be singing, not always together as their adlibs conflict sometimes and it doesnt work.
The chords are very simple and stay on one note for most of the song, but its quite short so doesn’t get boring.

I like the idea of Rihanna’s vocals but they are really pushed to the side as the front man can’t seem to give her any space to get vocally stronger. He really should have let her sing for the majority and provided her with harmony backup, or used a bit of call and response.
The song doesnt really get going and I think it could have been a lot better.
