Although Feeder’s line up has changed many times over the period, the Welsh indie-rockers still sound like a band going through the motions after more than fifteen years in the business.
‘Tracing Lines’ follows the formula of the band’s most successful release ‘Buck Rogers’: inoffensive low-key intro, uninspiring lyrics and big chorus. Only now it feels more than ever like Grant Nicholas spends the verses twiddling his thumbs until he can launch into what he hopes will be a memorable chorus.
The catchy pop songs of ‘Echo Park’ and the heartfelt lyrics of ‘Comfort In Sound’ seem so distant now. You get the impression that Nicholas’ heart is no longer in it.
