More Bestival Acts Announced

With less than three weeks to go until Robin Hill Country Park on the Isle of Wight opens its gates for Bestival’s 5th Birthday revelry, Rob da Bank has pulled an array of incredible additions from up his sleeves at the last minute, giving lucky ticket holders a lavish extra helping of party fun on what is set to be a legendary weekend.

Joining an all-star cast on this year’s bill will be the synth pop stylings of Mercury Music Prize nominees Neon Neon. A true super-group featuring Super Furry Animals’ inimitable front-man Gruff Rhys and über-producer Boom Bip, the pair’s debut album Stainless Style, loosely based on the life and times of John De Lorean, channels the majesty of 80s pop into the here and now with effortless aplomb.

Currently basking in the glory of their top ten hit ‘5 Years Time’, Noah And The Whale have long been favourites in the da Bank camp and so it’s with great pleasure we can announce that the band will be making an appearance at Bestival with their captivatingly catchy bitter-sweet pop tunes a dead cert to wow the Bestival massive.

One of the top three Brass bands in the world The Fairey Band are 9 times National Champion Band of Great Britain and 16 times British Open Champions and will be providing an aurally lysergic diversion with their acclaimed Acid Brass set of Acid House cover versions that have left jaws agape across the globe, one definitely not to miss!

There will also be appearances from Roots Manuva & MK, Alphabeat, Ulrich Schnauss, Grovesnor, Filthy Dukes, Barry Peters, Erol Alkan, Greg Wilson, Ross Allen, Loose Cannons, The Shellac Sisters, Jon Carter and Matt Horne of Gavin And Stacey fame, plus many many more.

Taking a rare break from the final preparations for this year’s shindig, Robby commented: 'I suddenly realised it was three weeks to go ‘til the big day and I looked in my spam folder and all of these great bands and DJs were sitting there still waiting to be announced! To say we'll all be spoilt for choice at Bestival 2008 is a slight understatement – see you on the island!'

For those that didn’t manage to get a ticket this time round or even if you did and want to dose up on Bestival cheer as you travel down to the Isle of Wight there’s always the ‘A-Z Bestival 2008’ compilation that features selected highlights from this year’s line-up, including Aphex Twin, Black Kids, dan le sac Vs Scroobius Pip, Kitty, Daisy & Lewis, The Shortwave Set, and Pendulum, amongst many others all presented in alphabetical fashion.

And if you get out to the shops on September 1st when the album is released there’s always the chance that you’ll find one of the 5 Golden tickets to this year’s Bestival that are hidden in the first albums to hit the shops!
