The All New Adventures Of Us – 45 Forever

I don’t think I’ve ever been won over by a new band as instantly as with this delightfully playful ensemble.

The first single on new label One Little Indian, ’45 Forever’ is a charming and energetic steal of high value lyrics and remarkable imagery. “Make your record bag your family home”, front man and lead poet Jaime screams out over a barrage of melodic guitar stabs and tumbling drums which echo belligerently around your headspace before knocking you to the floor.

It’s great that British bands are returning to proper song writing after so many years in the shadow of big transatlantic bands such as Arcade Fire and whatnot. Not that this band is the Arcade Fire of course; though I’m sure they could be if they wanted to be. No, this lot are far more British. They have an elegance and refrained sentiment about their music, an enchanting apt for storytelling and metaphors. They’re easily among the best new breed of UK talent.

Tanaou are the last word in new-era song writing, even if that word is unpronounceable.
