Red Blooded Women tell us that they’re not like other girl bands. They listen to Kraftwerk. They’re edgier. If only that edginess wasn’t so obviously superimposed in a transparent attempt to generate unjustified hype for what is essentially just another Sugababes.
Someone should tell Red Blooded Women that the mere presence of synths is insufficient to make a song good. They need to augment the adequate background music with lyrics and a harmony good enough to make people enjoy their music because they find it listenable themselves and not just because someone else has told them that they should like it.
The band sum up their situation in one lyric from the title track: ‘You’re not fooling anyone.’
