Honey Ryder - Fly Away
Album Review

Honey Ryder – Fly Away

Mingling in the raw, new wave skirting touch of The Sounds with the smooth, classy indie touch of The Long Blondes, with the vocals especially drawing comparisons with the latter act, sees London based gal/guy duo of Honey Ryder using this cruising, slightly seductive single. To build up to debut album, ‘Rising Up’ that could give a needy kick of class and provocation as well as a raw strut to this year’s indie roster.

Lindsay O’Mahony glides her vocals in order to plead for escapism, riding over the pulsing percussion combos and cyclical guitar turns. Oxymoron lovers will be lost in the longing energy of this parade and purists will be impressed with the attention to tune-building detail.

‘Honey Ryder’, will certainly sweeten appetites, but can they keep it going through an album to satisfy the hunger for depth, harmony and a little bit of provocation that this and their previous single ‘Numb’, have started off??
