The Bishops – City Lights

A wandering feel flows through the vocals, the funk sliding bass and guitars for the tempo to be picked up by some steady percussion, as London based trio The Bishops show off their tight rhythm that has been six years in the nurturing.

In ‘City Lights’ they manage to illuminate the build up to their debut album by displaying an adventurous lyrical edge that is delivered with thoughtfulness and clarity by the twin vocalists, Mike and Pete Bishop. Churning B-side ‘Free To Do What You Want’, steps into straight out indie territory vocally, but the backing has a vibrant rock edge, bearing out a grittier side. They have to be careful that they don’t get labelled a power trio if they continue in this direction though.
