The Pigeon Detectives – Say It Like You Mean It
Now enshrined as rollicking indie, harmony twirling royalty in the minds of modern musos, Matt Bowman and crew continue to find it easy to continue to carve out a hook laden groove.
They are now on their third single from second album, ‘Emergency’ that took a little longer than their strutting, swaggering gem concealing debut to settle a few doubts about their merits. However, ‘Say It Like You Mean It’ is carefree and harmless. The lyrics capture a simple sincerity that comes across in the delivery.
“Should it always be this easy?”
Bowman exclaims, mid-chorus. Is he commenting on how they have fed on the appetite for dialogue driven indie that the Arctic Monkey have set off, by any chance?
