Frank Turner – Long Live The Queen

If you’re not familiar with Frank Turner he’s currently one of the best singer songwriters out there in the UK and this single, while nothing new with an acoustic guitar and raw vocals, has an uncanny ability to tug at the heart strings.

If you don’t really listen it would be easy to pass this track off as an average piece, but when you listen to what he’s saying you’ll realise this is the story of the death of his friend to breast cancer. But rather than a melancholy song full of mourning Frank Turner has created an upbeat celebration of her life and the good times they shared. It’s fair to say this is the sort of thing you’d want written about you, “stop looking so damn depressed and sing with all your heart”. Frank has also agreed to donate all the proceeds of the track to charity, so you could do a lot worse than add this to your collection.
