DORP – ‘London Out There’

Glam rocking, electro tinged frivolity continues ‘DORP’s quest to demonstrate enthusiasm as well as an irreverent edge to the way they ply their trade.

This cosmopolitan quartet shows a grizzlier side this time around as, ‘London Out There’ builds eerily from a base of fuzzy low-key guitars and the eerie percussion drill of Ricko Walsh. Then the glam rock electrolysis of Fred KU picks up the tempo, along with Piet Bez’s grizzly, but well projected vocals. A murky side to life is exposed;

“I know you’re living underground , you’re making a fuss but there’s no-one around. You come up for air; it’s still London out there.”

A digitally intoned, higher octane B-side, penned by guitarist Keith Floyd displays a dance friendly, rock sliding side to the outfit, contrasting with the more reflective A-side penned by Bez.

It is a multi-layered song-writing structure that adds intrigue to their album sound. This said, DORP are really a band who needs to be judged by complete albums because of this.
