Metronomy - Korova Bar
Live Review

Metronomy – Korova Bar, Liverpool

At Korova bar tonight, we get the chance to see the ‘Metronomy moves’ up close and personal. As one of Liverpool’s best kept secrets, Korova is a small venue with a prestigious array of previous acts which have gone on to great things (see arctic monkeys, Klaxons, Shy Child etc). My fears before hand that this venue is far too small for a band which now receives Radio one air play were not unfounded come 10pm, however before we go into over crowded venues, first up are a couple of knutters in the name of Norwich Union. Although confusing me for 30 minutes with mid song fights, staged technical problems (I think) and random screaming, between the chaos was some interesting experimental electro! Time will tell whether Norwich Union will be ones to watch for the future. I’m currently too confused to say!!

Anyway on to Metronomy, as discussed the venue is packed, so much so that all I can see of the band is front man Joseph Mount’s forehead and newly grown mop! Not that the band care, from the opening track to set closer the packed crowd lap up Metronomy’s genius random but catchy tunes. The newer, more radio friendly songs, such as Heartbreaker and Radio Ladio stand out in tonight’s set list, however the band finish on old favorites Black Eye/Burnt Thumb and the energetic You could easily have me, which leaves a satisfied smile on the majority of attendees. Another great night at Korova.
