This is Keith’s first single off their new album ‘Vice and Virtue’ and while it doesn’t break any new boundaries, it is a solid and engaging three minute blast of indie rock.
Hailing from Manchester, Keith do tick all the usual genre boxes. There’s the driving guitar work laced with a cocksure swagger and a deep, grinding bass-line, all of which you can find in countless other identikit Mancunian bands.
Despite this, Keith do undeniably have something about them that raises them above the average. ‘Up In The Clouds’ rips along, the double-time drums and infectious bass line really get your feet tapping and singer Oli’s rasping voice stands out as a great asset. Added to this, the b-side of the single, ‘Welcome To My Fairground’ is another strong tune which ably demonstrates the band’s drive and passion.
On this evidence, Keith could quite possibly be the next big things to come out of Manchester’s legendary indie-scene.
