Leona Lewis's latest release, the cover of Snow Patrol's 'Run', has become the fastest selling digital-only track ever in the UK. The song, which was never intended to be a single release, was downloaded close to 70,000 times in its first two days on sale, beating the previous record held by Estelle, whose best-selling track 'American Boy' sold 31,857 downloads in its first week.
The singer first performed the Snow Patrol track, originally a number 5 hit, on Radio 1's Live Lounge, and the response to that, and a subsequent performance of the song on 'The X-Factor' (which caused a boom in sales of the Snow Patrol original), persuaded Lewis's label to issue it as a single.
