The owners of the London Astoria have insisted that despite it's impending demolition in the new year a new venue will fill the void it leaves.
Earlier this week it was revealed that the iconic club's final night would be hosted by Ibiza's Manumission club on 15 January.
Melvin Benn, managing director of the Astoria's owners Festival Republic, told NME: “It is a sad day for music fans who are losing out to long planned and long awaited progress of London's transport system.”
The central London concert hall will be demolished to make way for a new railway station as part of the Crossrail project – the installation of a new line linking the capital's east and west.
