Blacklands – The Wytchwood

Ever see those American shows or movies that have moments about two thirds of the way through where you have a couple of characters perambulating by train across country? And then you get a montage with country music as they look out on cattle fields and rivers below the bridges the trains cross. Yup! This is the music that you normally hear playing in the background. It’s acoustic heavy and vocal light to start with. Towards the end it becomes very Simon and Garfunkel – so expect to hear them on the next Wes Anderson film soundtrack.
It is very sombre, but beautifully so. Thoughtful music for the mentally ajar.
