Lilly Allen - The Fear
Album Review

Lilly Allen – The Fear

The carefree and cocky swagger that once cloaked Lilly Allen’s releases and collaborations which saw her profile rise has disappeared, just like the utterance of the term “economic prosperity” from Gordon Brown’s lips.

Allen’s vocals have become tenderised and the accompanying electro slide takes on a suppler shape, oozing a chill out vibe. All this is done to sharpen the politically edged and personally felt lyrical bite;

“I don’t know what’s right and what’s real
anymore. And I don’t know how I’m meant to feel
anymore. And when do you think it will all
become clear? Cuz I’m being taken over by the
fear.”

Well, it looks like half of Britain’s commentators and comedians will have to find a new standing joke, cos it looks like Lily is rising above any petty feud with Amy Winehouse, these days.
