Daniel Ward Murphy ‘Queen Of Something New’

With the backing of well over 900 ‘believers’, investing a minimum of $10 (US Dollars) each, Daniel raised the $50,000 budget required at sellaband.com, and using that money proudly releases his debut album, “Until The Morning Light”.

London-based singer-songwriter Daniel Ward-Murphy currently has a lot to look forward to, all thanks to the support of his fans, who have contributed to his career in a very special way. Anxious for Daniel to record his debut album, they came together at link to raise the necessary recording budget for him to enter the studio.

After a period of intense work in the studio with acclaimed producer/engineer Tony Platt (Bob Marley, AC/DC) and a clutch of talented musicians including Jennifer Delaney (Vocals), Helen Twomey (Violin), Milo Bird (Cello) and Pravin Mukhi (Drums), Daniel’s album “Until The Morning Light” debuted on January 12th 2009.

Through Sellaband’s varied International partnerships with the likes of Amazon & The Orchard things are set to multiply rapidly in both the physical and digital spheres once the album is released. It looks likely that Daniel will be able to complete with mainstream artists in the commercial marketplace too – a challenge that he is embracing with relish:

“Sellaband is very meritocratic. The music lovers get to decide which album gets made and you get to build genuine relationships with your fans. The internet is breaking down geographical barriers and it is great to have an effect on people all over the world. The users of the site who search for (and then support) music are the pioneers for the millions of people who will follow. The record labels have been telling people what to like for a long time, and now it is time for the public to choose what they want to listen to. Now they are the record company, they are the people getting the albums they want for great prices and they are the people making it happen for these artists. I am happy to be one of them and support this great music revolution.”

Raising the money and recording the album is still only the start of the journey as far as Daniel and team are concerned – they will be working hard promoting and touring the album throughout 2009….and with his Sellaband believers ranging from countries as diverse as the USA, Latvia, The Netherlands and New Zealand, it is a journey that could transport him to all corners of the globe.

Daniel prides himself on maintaining personal contact with as many fans as possible – something that Sellaband has helped to facilitate – and the live shows that Daniel and his superb band have played at venues in the UK and Holland have helped him to meet many of his supporters face to face, as well as winning over hoards of new ones every time they play. Daniel’s live shows are something very special indeed and show genuine performances from real musicians.

“I get up on stage in the first place because I believe in the songs. I am lucky to be surrounded with great musicians and I think we all enjoy listening to each other as we play. The enjoyment is infectious and it transmits itself to the crowd. It’s just a group of musicians having fun, playing some good songs and playing every gig like it is their last one.”
