The Datsuns – So Long

The Datsuns. You remember them right? No? Well they were that garage rock band once hailed as the future of rock by the mainstream music press. Lucky them right? Well for a couple of years yes very lucky them but then, well, then they did what most other bands the British rock press hails as ‘the future.’ They became the past.

Luckily for anyone concerned with their well being The Datsuns are still around and still capable of kicking the stools out of most modern rock bands. ‘So Long’ is a great garage rock song, all scuzzy guitars and frantic shouty vocals. Unfortunately the resurgence of the old school of garage rock (New York Dolls et al) makes the Datsuns fun but completely irrelevant.
