Aaron King to release Free Debut EP 'The Granary'

Aaron King are a young 5-piece who have been cutting their now sharpened teeth for the last couple of years on Brighton’s thriving music scene. Having spent months in Aaron’s basement by the sea, tirelessly recording demos, they’re set to release their debut EP ‘The Granary’ which sees the band develop their sound from lo-fi bedroom demos into reassuringly warm and inviting songs. The EP was deftly recorded live over 48 hours in the idyllic Granary Studio onto two inch tape with producer Tim Rowkins (Medium 21). It’s a FREE digital only release, available from their myspace (link).

Aaron’s jazz background makes for original harmony and use of melody with instinctive, genuine lyrics. The mainly piano driven songs, are accompanied by sweet violins (Tom Prior), guitar (Tom Prior and James Morpeth), bass (Tommy Heap) and drums (Joe Prior), making for an intriguing acoustic sound, reminiscent of artists such as Nick Drake, Daniel Johnston, Kate Bush, Elliot Smith.

Having “unsuitably” supported the BabyShambles at a secret gig at London’s Dublin Castle, they’ve progressed to support the likes of acclaimed Scottish indie-rockers Frightened Rabbit and David Karsten Daniels, amongst others. They’ll be returning to the studio next month to record their second EP before heading off for a string of European shows in early May, and are planning to play a plethora of festivals this summer.

Their next show:

10th March – Oh, Inverted world @ Old Queens Head – London
